Creativity and New Media

The New Media platform that foster my creativity the most is Snapchat. I used Snapchat because I have an avatar that supposedly looks like me, it is called Bitmoji. I change the outfit of my bitmoji every season, since this month halloween is celebrated, I change the bitmoji outfit with a costume. The costume that I chose for my bitmoji is a pirate one, I also add a patch to her left eye, so it can go in accordance to the theme of my bitmoji outfit. I also made, my eye color brown.

HW Creativity

With digitization not only cartoonist can create, but everyone who have imagination and good ideas for creativity. New media allows everyone to create a music, music videos, interactive books throughout different platforms. As explain on the article from the New York Times “ Disney Tolerates a Rap Parody of Its Critters. But Why?,” individuals can create funny videos that include animations from Disney movies or cartoons, these mash-ups videos allow them to put their imagination into funny videos and make them viral. Another example of how new media contributes with creativity is by creators relying on twitter posts from consumers. As said in the article  “Twitter Serves Up Ideas From Its Followers,” products are created after observing what users or consumers are tweeting about, therefore it can be said that new media intermediates for creativity to these product developers. Modeling Reality with Virtual Worlds

After reading the article from the New York times “I’ve Been in That Club, Just not In Real Life,” one can say that the offerings of these virtual worlds, contribute positively by increasing its users self-confidence. The users of these virtual worlds gain confidence by creating small conversations, interacting, and getting familiarize with each other creating a connection for the future. That example can be used towards the real world as explained in the article “where she explained to me that the interaction we had over the Internet was just as valid as the one we were now having over a plate of French fries.” A cons, that can be considered from these virtual worlds is that individuals, might feel too comfortable with these not real worlds, that sometimes they will spend more time in them than in the actual world. Blog about Twitter

It can be compared in the sense that once you ask a question, different answers will rise, in both twitter and in-class/blackboard discussion. For instance, if you put your thoughts about a certain topic in twitter, you will get different answers because not everyone has the same opinion, and that is how is similar with an in-class discussion. The interaction happening between the tweets, is the same interaction happening when discussing in-class. Professors ask questions, students respond with different answer, but everyone is talking about the same topic. Now if we compare twitter discussion to a Blackboard discussion is different when is mentioned the limitation that a tweet allows, but it has the same essence of rising different opinions and answers. With twitter one will need to create a thread of tweets in order to include the same quantity of words that a blackboard post allows.
